Regular expressions are powerful, but they are easy to over-trust. This tester gives you a small workspace for checking a pattern against sample text before it gets baked into a validation rule, parser, import cleanup, or search feature.

The best use is iterative: start with real examples, add edge cases, then adjust the pattern until the matches and misses are both intentional. That matters because a regex that works on one happy-path sample can fail badly on whitespace, punctuation, casing, Unicode, or unexpected line breaks.

For production systems, regex should be paired with clear error messages and tests. If the pattern protects money, identity, permissions, or regulated data, treat this page as a scratchpad and move the final rule into reviewed code.
